About Us
Susan and Lauren Banks are a mother-daughter team who originate from the Midwest. After moving to Texas with her young children in 2013, Susan quickly fell in love with the rural Texas lifestyle. There, she met her retired military husband and gradually embraced various outdoor activities.
She loves watching animals in their natural habitat, and was impressed by the numerous types of deer. She learned that harvesting deer for the homestead led to more control of the food chain.
Deer provides variety of things including meat, antlers, hide (for leather products), bones (tools, crafts, dog treats), and deer fat for cooking or rendering into tallow. Susan adheres to and encourages responsible deer management principles.

The contrast between city and country life highlighted for Susan the many benefits of rural living, particularly its tranquility and self-sufficiency. This inspiration led to the creation of Kaevia—a candle brand that blends nature with the qualities of a thoughtfully created candle (and an emphasis on using clean ingredients).
Intrigued by the opportunity, Lauren, a Nursing major at Tarleton State University, started assisting Susan with testing and sales. Her passion for aesthetics and aromas significantly influenced Kaevia's design. She now plays a crucial role in the company’s success.

Susan hopes to one day open an exotic game ranch that also offers mentored hunts to those who may not have exposure to hunting. She aims to provide a comfortable experience to ease people into self-sufficiency, and enjoying the peacefulness of nature.
Texas has only one adaptive game ranch for disabled veterans. To support these causes, she plans to donate 5% of every sale to the non-profit ranch, another organization supporting women in the outdoors, and advocacy groups, such as the Texas Wildlife Association.
